
Attorney Steve Roberts received the Government Policy Award from the Greater Des Moines Partnership at the opening luncheon of the DC ONE 2006. Steve was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the Partnership as chair of the Government Policy Council.
D.C. ONE 2006 was this years Greater Des Moines Partnership’s 27th annual lobbying trip to Washington, D.C. A record-setting 200 of Central Iowa’s business, civic and community leaders traveled June 7-9 to our nation’s capital to promote a unified regional agenda promoting economic growth with one voice, one mission, one focus as one united Greater Des Moines region. The 2006 federal legislative agenda focused on providing support for economic development projects and policies that enhance business competitiveness, nurture entrepreneurs, improve quality of life, help communities attract and retain employers and employees, and create new jobs. Four workshops held throughout the trip focused on immigration policy, the aviation industry, education, and the future of local economic development incentives and eminent domain under federal law. Davis Brown Attorney Lori Chesser chaired the Immigration policy workshop.
Roberts is currently the Chair of the Government Policy Council of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Roberts has also been extremely active in the Republican Party, formerly serving as Iowa Republican State Chairman. Steve is currently serving as one of the most senior members of the Republican National Committee in terms of years of service. Steve also serves on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI) and the Iowa Taxpayers Association.

Roberts introduced the Congressional delegation at the Congressional Leadership breakfast. He also ran the priorities forums where specific funding requests were made.
