CONCENTRATION

Mike is a senior shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm in the Business Division. His practice encompasses Business and Corporate Law with a focus on telecommunications.

SUMMARY

Mike represents a large number of independent telephone companies as well as related businesses in cable television, wireless, satellite television, paging, Internet and other services. He has organized a number of companies in telephone, cable television, cellular wireless and PCS wireless businesses. Mike represents a number of small to medium-sized businesses, many of which are family-owned.

Mike has experience in succession and estate planning, securities, financing, mergers, acquisitions and contractual matters as well as non-profit organizations which provide services in the civic arena.

His client representations involve many businesses in rural and urban settings in Iowa including corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies, cooperatives, and general partnerships.

Mike was a co-author of the chapter on business formation in “How Business Gets Done: Words of Wisdom by Central Iowa Experts" (2009).

COMMUNITY

A long-time activist with the Greater Des Moines Partnership, he is chair of the Greater Des Moines Partnership Transit 2030 Task Force, developing the vision of a world-class metropolitan community moving on a world-class transportation system. Mike is a member of the Iowa Leadership Council for the American Cancer Society and is an Ambassador for the Coaches v. Cancer Program.

PERSONAL

Mike enjoys riding trains, including riding on his personal railroad motorcar. He lives in Des Moines with his wife Pam. They have three children; Jennifer, Tony and Ben.
